Preschool room with 4-year old children had chairs and tables that were too small, meant for 2-year old’s. Owner “thought” it didn’t matter and got these from an out of business center nearby. Chairs and tables had old food stains, chairs were rickety due to missing metal parts on legs, getting them violations:
• 47.55 Equipment and furnishings: (a) Furnishings. Tables, chairs, furniture and equipment shall be age and size appropriate, finished with non-toxic surface coverings, easily cleanable, and cleaned and sanitized as needed, in a manner consistent with the health and safety of the children in the program.
Furthermore, the director and S95 certificate holder did not know that fire extinguishers must be checked monthly. They both thought the fire extinguishers only needed a yearly check, getting the following violation:
• Fire extinguishers observed not to be inspected or maintained at time of inspection. Violations requiring immediate correction (Public Health Hazards) 47.59 (b)
These are just 2 of the 5 violations this center received.
